Bio

My name is Nicaya-Isabella Rios, and I am a 1L at Albany Law School with a strong interest in corporate and transactional law, as well as criminal justice and litigation. I am committed to building a well-rounded legal foundation that combines deal-making, dispute resolution, and advocacy.

I graduated magna cum laude from Marist University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Psychology and earned an ABA-approved paralegal certificate. I have explored legal systems globally through study abroad programs. I visited London, where I met with detectives at New Scotland Yard to learn about counterterrorism also explored several courts including the Central Criminal Court. In the Netherlands, I met with the NATO Consultation, Command, and Control Agency and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and spent time at the Anne Frank House, gaining insight into international law, diplomacy, and human rights. During a semester in Florence, Italy, I took solo trips to historical sites, including Pompeii and Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany, deepening my understanding of human rights and the historical context of law.

Currently at Albany Law, I serve as a 1L Senator, Philanthropy Committee Chair, and am an active member of the Business Law Society, Latin American Law Student Association, and Italian American Law Student Association, contributing to student leadership, community service, and professional development.

Outside of law, I enjoy fitness and running, which helps me maintain discipline and focus in both my personal and professional life.
